In celebration of memories and milestones: Gary Peer’s 2024 Events in Review

Just like Melbourne’s diverse neighbourhoods, Gary Peer thrives on community and a sense of belonging. We brought that ethos to life this year through festive celebrations, community events and special dinners to acknowledge our team. As we near the end of 2024, one thing’s clear: it’s our culture that makes Gary Peer so special – and it’s why people stay. So, let’s relive some of the highlights that made this year a cracker.

Kickstarting the year in style

Why ease into the year when you can launch it with a bang?

That was the spirit of our first staff event of the year – our Kickstart Day.

Held at the stunning Carousel in Albert Park, the 2024 edition did not disappoint. Think riveting talks, drool-worthy food and laughter that could be heard across the lake.

Our speaker lineup property whiz Mark Wizel, AFL legend Nathan Buckley, clinical psychologist Chelsea Pottenger and the hilarious Andy Lee brought insight, wit and energy.

As our co-founder Phillip Kingston put it: ‘The day was joyous, and that beats everything else.’

Our tradition in the Lunar New Year

In February, we didn’t just celebrate the Year of the Dragon – we brought it to life.

Over 100 clients, staff and friends gathered at our annual Lunar New Year celebration at our Balaclava hospitality centre. The vibes? Electric.

The evening impressed with cultural performances, including colourful dances and a cello piece by a client’s son.

Add mouth-watering food, drinks and heart-to-hearts, and you have a night for the books.

Mixing work with play at Family Day

In February, we brought together over 150 team members and their loved ones for our annual Family Day at Greenfields, Albert Park Lake.

And it certainly delivered!

Magicians wowed the kids, live music set the laidback vibe and face painters added splashes of colour and excitement. Mr Whippy even made an appearance!

For the Gary Peer team, it was much more than a day out. The event was a chance to connect our work families with our real ones.

Watching everyone laugh, bond and play offered a timely reminder about what Gary Peer is about: people, connection and having a damn good time.

Our largest-ever Seller Information Evening

Good food, great company and the inside scoop on selling? Yes, please.

Earlier this year, we hosted our biggest Seller Information Evening yet, with over 100 sellers joining us.

It was a night of conversation and a few cheeky drinks as we shared the latest property market insights and auction tips.

These evenings have become a Gary Peer staple, offering sellers the tools and confidence to navigate the sales process.

Because for us, it’s all about building trust, sharing knowledge and making the journey as smooth (and enjoyable) as possible.

Celebrating the women of Gary Peer

At Gary Peer, our agency wouldn’t have nearly the same success without our women.

So, this year, on International Women’s Day, we honoured the incredible women of Gary Peer with a morning tea.

We were inspired by stories and insights from Tamara Gross, Director of Retail at Belle Property Commercial South Melbourne, and our very own Director, Sally Zelman.

It wasn’t just about the pastries and coffee (though those were great). It was a reminder of the strength, resilience and brilliance our women bring every day. And yet another example of how supporting each other makes us all rise.

A Father’s Day dad-joke-off

Last quarter, our Balaclava Road office turned into a battleground of wit as the men of Gary Peer fired off the cringiest dad jokes they could muster – all in the hope of making their opponent crack a smile.

The winner? David Thomson, who snagged the crown (and a bottle of whiskey) with his sharp one-liners.

Beyond the laughs, we remembered what the day was about: celebrating the dads and father figures who make our team what it is.

Laughter, bad puns and good company? Sounds like a tradition worth keeping.

Thursday Night Fever

Working at Gary Peer isn’t just about hard work – we know how to throw a killer party, too.

Our Social Club proved that with a Disco Night at The Emerson in South Yarra.

Decked out in our finest 70s and 80s threads, we hit the dance floor like we owned it. DJ Lyndon dropped the beats, disco balls lit up the room and the energy was off the charts.

Social Club Chair Amanda Davenport couldn’t have said it better: ‘If there’s one thing you should know about the Gary Peer team, it’s that we love to dance.’

We’ll toast to that!

Loyalty worth celebrating

A decade of dedication? We say that calls for a celebration!

This year, we honoured our 10-Year Club – a group of legends who’ve been with Gary Peer for over a decade – with an unforgettable dinner at Studio Amaro.

Think Aperol Spritz, Limoncello Margaritas and plates of Italian cuisine.

It was a night to toast milestones and swap stories over good food and better company.

With over 30 members now in the club, it’s our yearly reminder of why people choose Gary Peer over and over again.

Our culture is something our Co-founders Gary and Phillip worked hard to create. As Gary puts it: ‘Every person we’ve selected to work here, we’d be happy to have at a dinner party. That’s always been our benchmark.’

End of Year party

When it comes to celebrating the end of the year, we go all out – and 2024 has been no exception.

On 12 December, we took over the Harbour Room in St Kilda for an afternoon of stunning views, delicious food and pure fun. Rooftop drinks and canapés aplenty!

We had live music, a video recap of the year’s highlights, a roaming magician and a mariachi band to keep the party going – because why not?!

It was the perfect way to close out 2024 and get excited about everything 2025 has in store.
